How Much Do PODS® Cost

I just finished speaking with a customer who began his inquiry with the question "How much do your pods cost". Great question! There's only one reason it was a difficult to answer...The company Portable On Demand Storage® has PODS®. We have ReloCubes®. Two completely different companies. But don't worry; when you call MoveBuilder and ask how much our pods cost, we know exactly what you're talking about, and we're happy to give you a moving estimate for our ReloCube (6'x7'x8' LWH) or moving trailer (28'x8'x9' LWH) - whichever best fits your needs.

How much does it cost to move?

It probably comes as no surprise that the question "how much does it cost to move?" is difficult to answer without knowing the specifics of your move.  But, give us the specifics and we can help you figure it out quickly— with a moving estimate

Before you start getting estimates, let me suggest getting a little information ready…it just seems to make the process of figuring out how much it costs to move a little quicker and easier.

Here's what you'll need to have ready when you call:

  • The city, state, zip code you're moving from.
  • The city, state, zip code you're moving to (if you don't know this yet, get as close as you can to get a more accurate estimate).
  • Your move date.  Keep in mind that some moving companies (includ...

Moving Pods Pricing

Comparing moving pods pricing

We've mentioned before that moving pods have become a very popular way to move over the past few years.  Why do you think that is? I think possibly people really like the thought of their belongings being the only things inside the container, that they can store easily and that they're so easy to load and unload.  It really is a great concept.  If I was moving and needed storage with my move, it's absolutely the way I would go.

Though if you've begun getting moving estimates to determine moving pods pricing, you may have noticed one downfall…they're sometimes expensive, with some companies.

I say "with some companies" because there are several companies offering moving pods services these days. ...

MoveBuilder Moving Charges

What moving charges should I expect?

No matter how you put it, questions like "How much?", "What's the bottom line?" and "What are the moving charges?" are likely a huge factor in your overall opinion of how well your move goes.  Not only is it understandable to want to know exactly how moving charges are incurred, it's something you NEED to know. How else can you budget for the move?

MoveBuilder makes answering these questions a little easier by offering the  advantage of being able to charge each shipment based on the linear footage used in the moving trailer, or the number of moving containers used,  and not by its weight. Why is this such an advantage? Because you don't have to worry about not knowing your final price until your shipment is in transit.

Here's an example of what I'm t...

Avoiding Unexpected Moving Charges

Calculating all of your moving charges
You've figured out by now that when you're moving, the charges add up pretty quickly.  If you're on top of things, and have a moving budget worked out, it's a big deal to do everything you can to stay within it.

This is a list of things you'll want to include in your budget to make sure there aren't unexpected moving charges:

Moving Supplies:  Ask your moving company representative whether moving supplies like boxes, tape, paper padding and newsprint are included in your moving charges.  If they aren't, you'll need to budget for them.  The average 6-8 room house will use around 100-150 boxes— including wardrobe boxes, a variety of large, medium and small boxes and dish pack boxes. You can expect to pay somewhere between ...

How PODS® Rates Compare to MoveBuilder Rates

PODS rates vs. MoveBuilder rates
We're heading into the "off" season for moving. In most locations, that means lower moving costs— especially when you're talking about a long distance move. So now is a great time to begin comparing prices for fall and winter moves.

A great place to start is comparing MoveBuilder rates to PODS rates.

Since containerized moving is such a big deal these days, we get many inquiries every day about moving "in one of those pods".  Although MoveBuilder uses ReloCubes® (PODS® is another company), the concept is the same— a portable moving and storage container is dropped off at your door for loading and unloading.

The main differences between ...

Moving can be full of unexpected expenses.  However, most of these costs can be planned for, and even reduced, as long as you consider and include any potential expenses in your budget while you're estimating moving costs.
