Hawaii's Top 10 Haunted Places
It's Top 10 Friday again and since Halloween is just around the corner, we're keeping with the haunting' theme. I love this stuff! Here's the thing about Hawaii— it isn't just for those seeking a vacation in paradise or an escape from reality. Pearl Harbor – It is not surprising that the site of the attack by the Japanese that brought the United States into World War II is haunted. Located in the center... Read More

Unless you've got friends or family already living in the city you're moving to, it's not always easy to find the local hot spots right away. Exploring the new city, finding new places and trying things out is one of the perks of moving to a new city. Once you know where they are, you've got great places to play (or relax) on your days off and places to take your friends when they visit.
An online search for local entertainment can give you hundreds and sometimes thousands of results. So how do you narrow it down to find the best local hot spots?
The city's visitor center. Even though you're not technically a "visitor", you are new to the area, so it a great way to learn about the most popular attractions. The places the city is most proud of can often be found he... Read More

It's Friday! That usually means Top 10 Friday time…but we're switching things up a little today. We're wild and crazy, I know. So today's list isn't so much a top 10 list, but more of a list of 10'. Now that you're all on the edge of your seat, keep reading to learn the names of 10 U.S. cities that were named after elements. This is exciting stuff folks!
I kind of feel like I'm back in 9th grade chemistry class writing about elements…
A few things I remember from back in the day are that elements are an important part of life. Not only do they make up everything in the world, they help stimulate the economy in areas where they're present in large enough quantities to be mined.
And would you believe that some elements are so cool that towns are named after them? It's tr... Read More

Take a deep breath and relax…the move to your new town is over! YAY! Now comes the fun part— meeting people and making new friends. Honestly, this is one of the things I love most about moving to a new place. And it probably goes without saying that if you're planning to make friends with your new neighbors, making a good impression is the key. If you've ever experienced "that" neighbor— the one who never speaks, doesn't mow, has trash and other miscellaneous junk strewn all over the place, and plays loud, thumping music late into the night— you know better than anyone how important it is to show the neighborhood that you're going to be one of the good ones. So, I've put together a few simple tips to help you make a good impression on your new neighbors.
First, remember that a smile, a wave and an enthusiastic greeting can go a ... Read More

I'm all for some fun and adventure, but something about not having a home to call my own at the end of the day lacks appeal. I've got a deep love for my bed and pillow, and how would I DVR my favorite shows? But, I'm absolutely enthralled by people who've done this. Can you imagine? It's Housewarming Party Time!
I don't know about you, but I think that having a housewarming party is one of the most exciting things about moving into a new home. In fact, I'm getting excited just thinking about it (and I don't even know anyone who's moving). It's a great chance to show off the new home to old friends and family, and a perfect way to meet new neighbors. Housewarming Party Invitations Make your own or buy them…whatever you choose, get the invitations ready to send out at least 2-3 weeks in advance— people are busy these days. If saving money is a big deal, and you've got computer-savvy friends and family, send an e-vite instead. If you can do mailed invitations, one really cute idea I've seen is a postcard with a picture of the new house on the front, and directions/party invitations on the ... Read More
