10 Most Helpful Moving Resources

10 Most Helpful Moving Resources

Other than the blog you're reading (obviously, right?) I think you'll find the list of moving resources below helpful throughout the entire moving process.  Check them out:

1. Moving Tips
This helpful list is found under MoveBuilder's Moving Resources tab.  You'll get moving tips on everything from organization and research to packing advice and a list of do-not-ship items. It's a must read before you move.

2. Moving Checklist
The Moving Checklist starts 8 weeks before your moving day and walks you through each week until your shipment is delivered.  It's a great reminder of things you can't afford to forget!

3. Moving FAQ's
These FAQ's were added to the Moving Resources tab to help answer your questions about relocation quickly and concisely.

4. Room-by-room Space Estimator
This is a detailed space estimator that allows you to walk through your home and enter each item/box to help estimate how much trailer space your shipment will occupy.  Just enter the items you're moving and click "Add to total" after each room to determine the linear footage.

5. Simple Space Estimator
This space estimator was designed as a quick glance at the amount of space you should need for your move— a great moving resource when you're in the early stages of researching movers.

6. Rental Truck Conversion Chart
If you've considered truck rental, this is a good resource for converting a rental truck to the equivalent trailer space or number of ReloCubes.

7. Rental Truck Fuel Calculator
This is one of our most popular tools.  Just enter the city/state you're moving from/to and click "Calculate" to estimate how much you can expect to pay to fuel a rental truck. As fuel prices continue to rise, we expect this tool to get a lot of activity.

8. Ditymovers.com
This is a site that offers great advice for people doing a DITY (do-it-yourself) military move.  They offer great moving advice for service members who qualify for DITY move reimbursement.

9. Moving E-Cards
These are fun!  Instead of mailing address change cards, you can send one of these great moving e-cards to let people know you've moved.  We'll have these soon at movebuilder.com, but right now there are some great ones at upack.com (our sister service). Rest assured, like MoveBuilder, U-Pack practices permission marketing. That means the addresses you enter won't be used for anything other than sending the e-card.

10. U-Pack Moving Blog
U-Pack has a great blog!  Although most posts revolve around self-moving, you will find some very helpful posts— including info on moving to Puerto Rico, moving to Alaska, military moving and more.  Check it out!

I hope you find these moving resources helpful!  If you have questions these resources don't provide the answers to, feel free to use the ’Ask a MoveBuilder' tool to the right, or leave a comment…we would love to help!
