America's Happiest Careers

Surprising? America's Happiest Careers

I saw this on the news last night and couldn't wait to comment on it.  Very interesting.  I would venture to say that most of the people who move with us are moving for job related reasons...whether it be a corporate relocation, starting a new job with a new company, moving to a new city to find work, or retiring.  So this report by careerbliss.com that lists 10 Happiest Careers in America may sound as intriguing to you as it did to me.

According to MSNBC, the report involved surveying 200,000 U.S. workers from 70,000 jobs across the nation. The survey asked questions regarding nine areas of workplace happiness: the employee's relationship with their boss and co-workers, their work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, daily tasks and job control over the work they do on a daily basis.

And (drum roll please) here they are:
1. Biotechnology
2. Customer Service
3. Education
4. Admin-Clerical
5. Purchasing-Procurement
6. Accounting
7. Finance
8. Non-profit Social Service
9. Health Care
10. Legal

I have to admit, some of them surprised me a little.  How about you?

It's interesting that most of the careers listed aren't known for being highly paid.  Maybe that says that when it comes to job satisfaction, money isn't always the top factor?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!
