Best Places to WinterHave you ever heard the term snowbird? It’s normally used to describe people who live in the Northeast, Midwest and Canada and head toward the sunshine when winter rolls around. They’re typically retirees, or folks who have the freedom to easily move from one location to another throughout the year. You’ll normally find snowbirds in places like Boca Raton, Key West and Destin, FL; Las Vegas, NV; San Diego, CA; and Sun City, AZ.Though I wouldn’t be in this camp, some people actually move toward the mountains when the snow starts falling (it is beautiful, so I’ll give them that). So what’s the opposite of a snowbird? I’ve searched, but can’t find a word to define these people...maybe ski bums? I’ve read people who say they “winter” in one city and “summer” in another. Maybe that’s more appropriate. Either way, the U.S. offers such a wide variety of amazingly beautiful locations to call home whether you love sunshine or snow. Take a look at this MoveBuilder infographic on the Best Locations for Winter Homes to see where people love to live in the wintertime. We’re curious: What’s your favorite place to live/visit in the winter? |
