How Much Do PODS® Cost

I just finished speaking with a customer who began his inquiry with the question "How much do your pods cost". Great question! There's only one reason it was a difficult to answer...The company Portable On Demand Storage® has PODS®. We have ReloCubes®. Two completely different companies. But don't worry; when you call MoveBuilder and ask how much our pods cost, we know exactly what you're talking about, and we're happy to give you a moving estimate for our ReloCube (6'x7'x8' LWH) or moving trailer (28'x8'x9' LWH) - whichever best fits your needs.

And let me also mention that we understand why people call our ReloCubes ’pods'. They serve the same purpose as the containers offered by the company with the well-known name - to move and/or store your belongings.

So let's get back to the customer (who was very nice, I might add)…his move was about 1300 miles, he was moving a small one-bedroom apartment, he didn't have room to park a large moving truck at his apartment complex and he thought it would be around six weeks before he could take delivery of his belongings. ReloCubes with storage seemed to be a perfect solution based on his needs. I won't go into detail about everything he was moving, but based on the room-by-room space estimator, he should be able to easily fit everything into two ReloCubes. Though he mentioned he would do his own packing and loading, he won't have help unloading when it comes time to take delivery, so we added unloading services to his moving estimate. (That's the awesome thing about MoveBuilder— you can save money by doing the packing, loading and unloading on your own, or you can add the services you need— it's completely customizable.)

Basically, if he chooses MoveBuilder, this is what he can expect:

  • An ABF driver delivers the ReloCubes to his apartment (each Cube fits easily into a parking space).
  • He loads his belongings into the Cube (if he ends up being able to fit everything into one, he'll only get charged for one).
  • The ReloCubes are picked up and delivered to the ABF service center closest to his destination where it stays until he's ready to take delivery.
  • Once he's ready, he contacts a move manager to coordinate delivery.
  • An ABF driver delivers the ReloCubes right to his door at the destination.
  • MoveBuilder movers unload the contents of the ReloCubes into his new apartment and place everything right where he wants it.
  • An ABF driver picks up the empty ReloCubes.
  • Move complete!

Now, as far as the cost goes, based on what I've heard from other customers, you can often add loading and unloading services to your MoveBuilder move and still get prices that compare to the cost of renting a PODS® container and loading/unloading yourself. While I'm not sure if that's the case for this customer, it's likely.
