Discovering Smart Kitchen Organization Ideas
Ok, we all know one of the hardest rooms in the house to keep clutter free and organized is the kitchen, and that's probably because it is one of the most utilized rooms in a home.  We prepare food there, we eat the food there, we certainly make plenty of messes there, and we simply just hang out there.  Do you ever feel like it would just be easier to throw a stick of dynamite at it and start from scratch?  Well, let's start from scratch (minus the dynamite) and get the clutter free kitchen of our dreams by looking at some helpful kitchen organization ideas.

7 Simple Tips for Creating the Ideal Kitchen Space

  • Begin by locating wasted spaces in cabinets and on the countertops, then clean out the storage areas or pantry and keep ONLY what you use/need.  If you have unwanted or unused non-perishable items that you can't bare to simply toss out, donate them to a local shelter or food pantry.
  • Create zones for food preparation, cooking, storage containers, and small appliances; place necessary items close to those areas. Food prep items should be close to the refrigerator, cooking items (pots/pans) should be close to the stove, cleaning items by the sink, etc.
  • To free up drawer space, use pegs for hanging aprons, pot holders, and dish towels.
  • Utilize space under the cabinets by hanging towel rods, lights, or placing small appliances
  • Put plastic bags and wrapping in a drawer near the fridge so it will be handy when you need it.
  • Arrange your kitchenware by frequency of use.  Group specific objects by purpose and allot each item to a specific cabinet or area.
  • Don't overlook the refrigerator (where scary odors like to hide)!  Give the old fridge a good scrubbin' and get rid of any outdated foods, dressings, juices, produce, etc.  Then, remember to add a box of baking soda to help chase away unwanted odors.

My best advice to wrap up these kitchen organization ideas: Don't get bogged down by the task at hand.  Take time to step back and appreciate your hard work and check things off your list as you go. What a sense of accomplishment when you do that! Once you've completed the process, get the input of others in your household to ensure your kitchen organization methods make sense to everyone.  Most of all, when you're finished be proud of your accomplishment and enjoy your newly de-cluttered kitchen!
