Moving a TV

If you're moving a TV, we recommend that you have it professionally packed and crated to provide the best protection. Crating adds additional charges to your moving estimate, but experts think that the extra protection is worth it. If you have a TV over 40" and choose not to crate it, we'll ask that you sign a waiver.

Some customers choose to have their TV packed but not crated. If this is the option you choose, we recommend packing the TV in its original box and packaging. Since the original box and packaging were designed to protect the TV for shipping to the store, it should provide adequate protection if it is re-packed correctly.

If you don't have the original box and packaging, here are some suggestions to protect your TV while it's being moved:

  • Wrap the TV in industry-standard paper pads and then surround with corrugated material for protection.
  • Wrap in moving blankets and use corrugated material to protect the screen.
  • Label all remote controls and cords and place in a plastic bag.

If you do not have original boxes and packing materials, MoveBuilder will wrap the TV in paper pads then surround all sides with corrugated material for protection (as seen in the picture below).
