Moving in the Summer with MoveBuilder

Even though it's not "officially" summer until June 21st, it sure feels like it around here!  And I'm not talking about the heat (although the high is 95 degrees in Arkansas today).  The busy summer moving season is upon us.  Made completely evident by the growing volume of phone calls and moving estimate requests coming into the MoveBuilder call center.  Yes, it makes for a very busy day…and YES! It's great news.  A wonderful sign that the economy is beginning to turn around— the housing market is improving, unemployment rates are falling, and people are finding work and moving to start new lives in new places.  So exciting!

Now for the moving in the summer bummers…

The summer moving season has the potential to bring inconveniences with it that you normally won't experience during less busy times of the year.  I share these with you because in my experience, knowing what to expect ahead of times makes things so much easier in the long run…and helps with the planning process. Though not the case with every move, due to the nature of the season, these are things you'll want to be prepared for regardless of the moving company you choose.  Of course, we hope you'll allow MoveBuilder to be your choice moving company, and we'll strive to make it your best moving experience yet. 

So, let's start with holding on the phone.  Nobody likes it (including me).  Our goal is to answer every single call with the shortest hold time possible.  Most days we're spot-on, but some days— specifically Mondays, Tuesdays and the days following holidays— we know that customer hold times are much longer than we think is acceptable.  Our hope is that it gives you peace-of-mind to know that MoveBuilder's fully-staffed call center analysts are working diligently to answer your questions and handle your concerns as quickly as possible. If you're flexible with the day/time you can call, the lower call volume times are usually Wednesday through Friday from 7 -10 a.m. CST and 3 -8 p.m. CST.

And then there's move day availability.  During the "off-peak" season, you can usually wait until the last minute to reserve your move.  Things change when you're moving during the summer.  With so many people moving during a short period of time, equipment availability often becomes an issue. Since MoveBuilder doesn't overbook equipment, and we only offer day-certain moving days— not a "spread" of potential moving days— reserving early becomes even more important.  When you call to make your reservation, if there are no ReloCubes or trailers available for your requested moving day, your MoveBuilder representative will let you know there are no reservations available for that day.  In order to make sure equipment is available on the day you request, we suggest making your reservation 4-6 weeks in advance.  Keep in mind that no down payment or deposit is required for a reservation.  If you're already inside of 4-6 weeks, go ahead and give us a call though. We'll check availability, and if it's possible, we'll book the move for you.

And then there's transit time. While MoveBuilder's transportation provider, ABF Freight System, Inc. can normally move your belongings across the country within 2-5 business days, during the peak moving season, we've come to expect that it may take slightly longer in some locations.  If you've spoken with someone at the call center about your move already, they've likely mentioned this and advised that the transit time is estimated.  If you're flexible with your move-in days, great! You can track your shipment 24/7 so you'll know how to prepare for unloading.
